Many people wonder if they need to invest in HVAC maintenance, and the answer is a resounding “yes!” We’ve been performing AC repairs for long enough to know what causes HVAC failures, and one of the biggest contributing factors is neglecting to purchase preventative HVAC maintenance. Think of your HVAC system like your car — you wouldn’t drive it for years and years without getting a tune-up or an oil change. At Pure Air Solutions, we proudly offer a preventative maintenance program that can prevent you from having to invest in costly and unexpected heating and AC repairs.
If you’re like most Colorado residents, then you’ve probably already turned on your air conditioner and will have it running through September, and maybe even October if this year’s weather is anything like last year’s. This means that your air conditioner will be pushing a large quantity of air through it, and you should expect to change your filter to prevent a buildup of dust, pollen, and other environmental contaminants. While everyone’s needs will vary slightly, we recommend checking your filter at least once each month to see if it needs to be changed.
How can you tell when your filter needs to be replaced? You’ll have replacement filters on-hand, so compare your current filter to a clean one. If your current filter has become gray and discolored by dirt and dust, then it’s probably time to change it. Changing your filter early is never a bad thing, as it makes it even less likely that you will have to purchase AC repairs due to a malfunction down the road.
We hope that this post has helped you to better understand your HVAC system. Stay tuned for future posts in this series in which we’ll continue to provide you with answers to our most commonly received HVAC questions.
